I grew up making this every Christmas! You can 1/2 the recipe and make it in an 8 x 8 pan if you wanted to.
2 sticks of butter, room temperature
Chopped nuts - put in 9 x 13 dish
1 rounded cup sugar
2 1/2 TBS hot water
package of chocolate chips
1. Spray a 9 x 13 pan. Sprinkle chopped nuts over bottom of pan covering it.
2. Heat sugar in pan, add hot water and butter.
3. Cook until it turns the color of brown paper bag (light brown), stirring constantly.
4. Pour over nuts in pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and let melt.
5. Spread chocolate all over the top and sprinkle with more nuts if desired.
6. Break with knife when cooled.
I have found that if you break it when it is cold it works better than if it is at room temperature.
