Saunders Chocolate- Saunders is in Detroit Michigan and they are known for this chocolate sauce. It is a mixture of chocolate and caramel and good on everything from pretzels, apples, ice cream, cheesecake... I ONLY make this at Christmas time, and since I am making one batch tonight, it is "officially" Christmas. There are two variations on this. I do recommend ONLY using Nestle's Milk Chocolate. If you cannot find the candy bars, buy the milk chocolate chips. That is what I do!
#1 recipe
12 oz bag Nestle Milk Chocolate Candy Bars/Chocolate Chips (needs to be this brand)
14 oz corn syrup
14 oz sweetened condensed milk (save can to measure corn syrup)
2 sticks butter
Few dashes of vanilla
In a double boiler, place all ingredients in the top one to melt (about 15 minutes). Place lid on and cook for an additional 30 minutes stirring every 10 minutes. Let cool a little and then place in a blender and blend until smooth. Place in containers and store in refrigerator. Will freeze for 6 months. Will make about 4 1/2 cups of sauce.
#2 recipe
13 oz can evaporated milk
1 lb Kraft light AND dark caramels
2 sticks butter
12 oz Nestles' Milk Chocolate
Follow same method as used in #1 recipe. Will make about one quart of sauce
