I taught John how to make lasagna, and now he will make it for me. We will make it on Saturday nights and cook it on Sunday's. It is a great company dish as well. You can freeze it as well after baking once.
1 lb sausage- cooked
16 oz ricotta cheese
1 egg
2 c + mozzarella cheese
1/2 c Parmesan cheese
4 c marinara sauce
Large package of lasagna noodles
olives, mushrooms (optional)
After cooking the sausage, add the marinara sauce to it. Mix the ricotta cheese with the egg and 1/2 c mozzarella cheese.
In a 9x13 pan, layer in the following order after spraying the pan.
NOTE: Noodles do NOT need to be cooked ahead of time!- Noodles
- 1/3 ricotta mixture
- Sauce- just enought to barely cover
- Olives, mushrooms and cheese
Repeat until all three layers are completed. Pour remaining sauce on top and add the cheese. Since we are not cooking the noodles ahead of time, make sure you have plenty of sauce to cook the noodles. Cover with foil and bake in 350 oven for 45-55 minutes. To brown cheese at the end, take off foil during the last 10 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before cutting.
